Escaping from punishing tall rough

The essence of discovering the comfort in wisely engaging opportunity and possibility where disappointment and self-criticism come begging.

Deep grass represents trouble, and this sculpture represents intelligently escaping not just the surrounding grass but the disappointment of having to deal with the condition. The comfort in this shot is about knowing what needs to be done to minimize the effects of misdirection, and to maximize
the opportunity.

Special attention in this work went beyond the technical mechanics, as creating this meant associating mostly with the grass and relating to the resistance and reactions to the violent blow of the club's entrance into the area. I needed to see how cozy the ball feels seeming to hide in the grass… sort of smiling about how it can now take a break from being hit so hard.
